Hello and welcome my beautiful people! Good afternoon, and…good morning! Wherever you are in this world, I just want you to know that God loves you. He makes sure things are set straight as long you believe and trust in Him. Anyhow, it’s a beautiful day in Jersey and it’s going to be 70 degrees next week. I can’t wait since I’m not a winter person by any means. And you, wherever you are, I hope you’re safe and well and that that you’re getting a piece of that warmth too. If you’re somewhere in a tropical island, like let’s say the Philippines, I envy you. A lot. In fact, I might just stop blogging right..about…now. I’m kidding. New Jersey is an adjacent island anyway so I got something to be proud of. Right?? Okay whatever. Anyways, today we’re going to be talking about 2 Corinthians 7:10 and it states: Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret, but worldly sorrow brings death. This essentially means to have sorrow for upsetting God for your sins will bring repentance that leads to salvation as oppose to having earthly sorrow for your own personal problems which leads to death known as Hell. Let’s begin with Drawbacks of Earthly Sorrows.

Drawbacks of earthly sorrows

This will be a short paragraphical explanation as to how and why earthly sorrows are no good to our spirits. First off, what is earthly sorrow? It is when we are sad and depressed about things we can’t overcome. For instance, I might be severely depressed because my landscape photography career isn’t taking off. I sit around and mope and I never leave my bedroom unless I have to go to the bathroom. I won’t shower, I won’t eat, and I won’t talk to any of my friends. All because I have this earthly sorrow of not being the next Ansel Adams. Even though God wants the best for me, He doesn’t like that I’m depressed. In His eyes, it’s a sin to be depressed because it’s disrespectful and negligent of His Will. His Will to deliver us salvation and an everlasting life once we turn our hearts to Him. Here’s another example of earthly sorrow on a lesser scale. I might be depressed because I don’t have many social media followers. Every time I hashtag a worthy meme for the world to see, I only get 8 likes. What makes me even more sad is the dude popular who follows me on my social media reposted the meme I uploaded gets a thousand likes in a instant. That makes me jealous and insecure. Most importantly, depressed. All because I thought social media is place where I could easily gain numerous friendships online, and I failed. Therefore, I don’t eat, shower, or sleep. I mope around until I get 992 likes to even up with the popular dude. This would be a very petty reason to be depressed, a lot more nonsensical than a failed landscape photography career. Or I could be depressed because I am a walking meme who became the laughing stock of the world. Therefore I feel embarrassed and kill myself. Either way, that is earthly sadness, and God greatly frown upon that. Once again, this may be a petty reason to be depressed and end my life. However, there are a lot of people today who are depressed because of their lack of social media interacting capabilities. This is real, not fake, according to statistics, here’s one article: https://www.healthline.com/health-news/social-media-use-increases-depression-and-loneliness . Now the reason why I’m addressing this issue is because I want us all to be fully aware that God greatly frown upon on this. He’s not punishing us, but He’s frowning. He wants us to know that He loves us and is able to give us the best medicine called LOVE. He wants us to understand that to be depressed of a failed photography career or a failed social media account is worthless compared to what He has to offer. And that is an eternal life to Heaven. Now before I end this paragraph, I’m going to list the drawbacks of earthly sorrows. They are 1. We may never find God and who He is. 2. We may never ask for forgiveness and repent for our sins. and 3. We may go straight to Hell (death). So my dear friend, whoever you are and where ever you are, if you’re reading this, please try to come out of that depressive shell and get to know God. He’s always here to help because He is LOVE. Trust Him.

Godly sorrow is the right sorrow

Now that we’ve discussed about the setbacks of earthly sorrows, it’s time to talk about the true nature of Godly sorrows. To have a godly sorrow is to be mindfully sincere of our sins to the Heavenly Father. Asking Him for forgiveness and repent from all of our wrongdoings. Cardinal sins or venial sins, it doesn’t matter, we ask Him to save us from condemnation and He waives. His ability to forgive is unbelievably everlasting, and we are grateful beyond measures. Now mind you, just because His ability to forgive is everlasting, doesn’t mean we can go back to our old sinful ways just for the sake of our own temporary pleasures. Then ask Him for forgiveness again. That would be taking advantage of His forgiveness and He can see that, CLEAR AS DAY. Why risk going to Hell for temporary pleasures on earth when we can repent now and have everlasting pleasures of dwelling with the Lord in Heaven? For eternity? Why dear? Because sin feels good? Depression from a failed photography career is the rational feeling? Although it’s common to sin and be depressed about all sorts of things, it’s promising us one thing. Death. I don’t mean death as in funerals and caskets six feet deep. I mean beyond. Way way beyond six feet, there lies a wicked circus called Hell. Now you and I heard the wickedness of Hell and how they give no one a break or breath. Despite being aware of this, most of us are headed there. All because of we sin for temporary pleasures or lounge with earthly sadness. Now earthly sadness is just as sinful as any of the other sin we can think of. However, it’s my firm belief that most of us Christians categorize earthly sadness as venial sins and murder or adultery of some sorts to be cardinal. We’d like to put different degrees of sins as if there are different level of wrongdoings. No, in my opinion all sins are equally bad because there are NO sin in Heaven. All those sins, no matter what, are calling us for eternal damnation. That’s unless we don’t repent and ask for forgiveness before it’s too late. It sounds like I’m being stern right now, but I care about each one of us and I want us all to go Heaven. It is infinitely so much better than anything we possess or this earth itself. Heaven is eternal happiness, earthly sorrow is eternal death. At least it’s bound to be. And godly sorrow is basically asking God for the Holy Spirit to mesh into ours. That type of sorrow is sincere because God hears our laments and struggles to end our wicked ways. Earthly sorrows are real, but they’re not sincere. It’s actually the selfish type of sorrow in God’s eyes because all we’re doing is deliberately wasting our time and life away. Just sitting there and moping. The demons succeeds when we have earthly sorrows, and some of us just let the demons win. It’s a sad case of reality and that’s why we have to pray for some of us to not go through it. Now, it’s okay to be sad. It’s normal. God wants us to feel sadness so that we can learn how to be vulnerable and be an empath. However, earthly sadness brings us eternal death and that’s worst than the sadness itself. It’s easier to have earthly sadness than it is to have eternal death, but we’d have both of them in our conscious for eternity. Think about that. I know it seems like I’m over-repeating the definition of earthly sadness, but I want us to be fully aware of the hefty price if we don’t repent and rely on HIm. Eternity. That’s a very, very scary word to describe how long we’d suffer in hell. For me, I personally agree with God’s assessment for godly sorrows because it brings us total awareness of our imperfections. And that we can only rely on Him to make us godly once we realize our own wickedness. We all make mistakes and we all sin everyday, even as Christians. However, God grace us with the Holy Spirit once we have the sincere feeling of godly sadness. It shows Him we are ready to be like Jesus Christ living a sin-free life in the kingdom of Heaven. For eternity. Now that’s my favorite word in this context.

Are you ready to be aware of your sins and repent to the Heavenly Father? Do you know God loves us despite all of our sins? And that Godly sorrow, not earthly sorrow, brings us repentance and salvation?
